Daily Download | Waiting for the Chiefs to pick

We keep reading it: Scott Pioli likes to trade on draft day. He has been involved in plenty of draft-weekend drama in the past, but with the Chiefs’ fortunes in Pioli’s future, the only thing that matters now is what he does on the weekend after next. Especially on Saturday.
Right now, the Chiefs face some problems if they want to pick up a second or third first-day pick. They have the No. 3 overall selection, of course, and that’s a tough thing to trade. So unless Pioli packages a remarkable deal for another team, or is able to pull more of his Cassel-Vrabel magic, the Chiefs might be stuck with that No. 3 pick.
You’ll find, if the Chiefs keep that first pick, that there will be all kinds of time to spend (waste) wondering what will go down on draft weekend. They have umpteen needs and, as of now, seven picks — including the unsuspecting but hopeful Mr. Irrelevant! — so there’s time to get to that.
But for now, here are some suggestions on things to do between the time the joy/anger wears off after the Chiefs make their first pick, at the top of the first round and roughly 3:30 p.m. CDT on April 25, and about 9:15 a.m. a day later:
Take a drive to Omaha. Consider and plan an addition to your home. Construct a ship in a bottle. Learn 24 Italian words and use them masterfully in a sentence. Reorganize your collection of antique rocking chairs. Write a 14-page letter, with edits, to Neil Diamond. Research and explain to two strangers the physiology of the sneeze. Consider the reasons you developed a fear of horseback riding after your 13th birthday. Paint the perfect portrait of a plum. Reconnect with a long lost friend named Shane.
You get the idea. There’s a long time between pick Nos. 1 and 2, and unless you make some plans to tide you over between bouts of uncontrolled excitement or rage, you might be setting yourself up for a letdown.
Here at Red Zone, we’re about therapy.
Why Xavier Henry won’t come to KU
The facts simply say … he ain’t coming to Lawrence. And if you think he is, you are delusional — in my humble opinion, of course.
Xavier Henry has had his entire life to consider being a Jayhawk. As you know, his father and mother played basketball at Kansas. Where else would their son go if he’s a superstar basketball player? So the question becomes, “Why didn’t he choose KU in the first place?” I’ll tell you why… BECAUSE HE DOESN’T WANT TO PLAY THERE! If he did, he’s had many opportunities to simply choose KU.

The Star really is hurting for things to write about.
