Australia Day Recount
When I woke up on the 26th January 2009 it felt like an ordinary summer holidays day. Until you see people walking around the streets with the Aussie Flag painted onto their face! THEN you realize what day it is…… AUSTRALIA DAY!
Australia Day usually starts with people packing into Sydney Harbour as early as possible so they get a good view of the New Years Eve Fireworks that are commencing in another 14 hours! It’s a shorter wait for the 9pm fireworks but still at least about 11 hours if you get there as early as some people do.
So, I didn’t go to the fireworks this year. Even if I did it wouldn’t have been as early as 14 hours before the New Years Eve fireworks! Instead, my family and I went to my Grandparent’s house for the day to have lunch and just to have a general play around with a soccer ball for a while. When we got home we decided to start watching the New Years Eve TV Show until the 9pm fireworks which were absolutely amazing.
During the wait until the Main New Years Eve fireworks at Midnight we had a late dinner then had a casual talk for about 15 minutes.
So, when the time for the Midnight fireworks was quickly approaching we turned all the lights of and started up the TV again for the New Years Eve TV Show again to watch of course, the main round of fireworks. Jeez, they were like nothing I have ever seen, I almost couldn’t believe how amazing they were! When they ended it was late. Around 12:30. So we decided to go straight to bed so we can actually get up the next morning.
Overall it was a brilliant day and I CAN NOT wait until the 26th January 2010!! J
