Default Is Matt Cassel our Quarterback of the future?

Just curious to see how us chief fan's feel about Matt Cassell. Argue why or why Matt Cassell isn't the QOTF.

How do you think the Chiefs current OL stacks up against NE's injured line from last year? Meaning he is learning a new system, so I think he will hold on to it just a little bit longer than he needs to in KC's system. Keeping in mind that he was a backup and probably knew the system quite well in NE and still held it a little long. Experience will help, but now he is learning a new system...am I making sense?

That is a very good question!! However, with Haleys' background I don't think the system will be that much different. Because of the difference in personnel, the plays will be different. But the reads should be the same. The major thing will be weather he trusts his recievers to run exact routes and be were they are supposed to be. I get the impression Cassel really wants to spend extra time working with the recievers, it'll probably depend how many recievers are willing to work that hard to excel.

I agree. Adding to the fact that Cassell is coming into the season as the starter rather than Brady's badckup, which I think makes a huge difference. We have all heard stories years ago about Peyton Manning and Harrison staying after practice and playing catch...I would love hearing that Cassell forms a similiar type bond with Bowe. Cassell was use to Moss and Welker and NE didn't utilize their TE...so maybe the departure of TG won't be as noticable to Cassell. With that being said, he loved his slot receiver because his stud WR (Moss) saw double coverage quite a bit.

Last year was Niswangers first year at Center. He should be better this year, especially with good OG's on both sides. If someone steps up at RT, our OL should be pretty solid.
Haley is known to play the best player. If Tyler spent the off season working on the foot work required to operate from under center, We might have a competition at QB. If Tyler didn't, the job is definitely Cassel's.
    OG, Logan Mankins - 16 starts in '07 - 16 starts in '08
    OG, Stephen Neal - 8 starts in '07 - 9 starts in '08
    OT, Nick Kaczur - 15 starts in '07 - 14 starts in '08
    OT, Matt Light - 16 starts in '07 - 16 starts in '08
    C, Dan Koppen - 15 starts in '07 - 16 starts in '08

    Total starts - 70 in '07 - 71 in '08.

The only difference would be that Russ Hochstein started in place of Neal's missed games in '07, while Billy Yates got the nod over Hochstein in '08.

(Hochstein was available, and did play in 15 games in '08.)

Injured O-line is not a legitimate factor here. It's the exact same guys from the previous season.
