Bowe on list of 2009 fantasy breakout candidates

I started a rumor that Bowe might not stay a Chief long so on the other hand NFL.com has Bowe as a breakout candicate. Source

Success in the world of fantasy football is all about the numbers. If your fantasy players exceed their statistical expectations, chances are you'll be in the mix for that ultimate goal -- a league championship. Just ask anyone who drafted Drew Brees, DeAngelo Williams or Andre Johnson in 2008.
That talented trio each put up the best numbers of their NFL careers in what turned out to be breakout seasons. Brees threw for an amazing 5,069 yards and 34 touchdowns, while Williams scored 20 total touchdowns despite the presence of rookie Jonathan Stewart. Johnson finished with career bests in receptions (115) and yards (1,575).
So which players have the best chance to follow in their footsteps and take their game to the next statistical level and produce monster numbers in 2009?
Let's take a look at 10 breakout candidates to target in drafts.

If Bowe has the drive and desire to be the best he possibly can, he will have a breakout year. If not, he probably won't be around long.

I hate the be the bearer of bad news, but does anyone else think that Bowe might regress or improve just a tad bit now that big old 88 isn't on the team? I hope I am wrong, but when you take a guy that has forced teams to cover the middle it tends to open the outer lane for WR's, inparticular Bowe. 70 catches as a rookie and 86 last year is great. However, #88 has had 78-73-99-96 the last 4 years respectively. That ladies and gentlemen is a big void that we need to figure out, for our team success and for Cassell to not get knocked around too much. I understand TG may be on the downsize of his career but when you take away a player that has been as productive as he has been...defenses can key in on other areas. If Bowe is going to have a breakout year, our RB's have to absolutely be awesome (meaning our OL needs to be absolutely awesome). Very possible, but a big task indeed

I agree, he is a perfect WR. He reminds me of a raw larry Fitzgerald (they both are about the same build and strong). Now KC just needs to find their Boldin :-) I hope Bowe doesn't get "too cool" for KC, cause he would be a great wideout for years to come for us

The departure of TG could have a negative effect as one might expect. On the other hand D.Bowe has mad skills and was drafted because of them. A few drops here and there but his numbers are great and he is now the focal point of the Chiefs arial attack. I expect his numbers to be similar to last seasons but more than likely better barring him getting hurt. Maybe Cottam et al will be the bearers of their good fortune of having D.Bowe as the lightning rod.

Tony G no longer a Chief is really going to slow this offense down. In order for Bowe to have a "breakout" season like he can...they need a.) an above average run game, or b.) an effective no.2 WR which we really dont have right now...

Bowe will now the the defense's main threat in terms of the passing game...and really, the only passing threat. he will be getting an awful lot more attention than years previous.

That is my main concern.Bowe's skills might be much more improved in 2009 (another thread reported that he working our with Fitzgerald) but a solid WR can only do so much when you get double coverage on a guy. I think KottkeKU is right in saying he will have a similiar year. I think he will mirror what he did last year just because of the missing pieces (ie running game/OL line and WR's). You never know until the season starts and those concerns may be much improved. A quick way Bowe can continue to get better is by YAC. He is so strong and athletic that I think his YAC yds will improve as he continues to gain pro experience.
