Post Browns To Trade Joshua Cribbs For Brandon Marshall?

There is a rumor swirling that the Broncos could deal star receiver Brandon Marshall to the Browns, according to ProFootballTalk.com. The rumor suggests that Josh Cribbs and draft picks could be sent to Denver in a trade for Marshall. If Marshall did land in Cleveland, they would have a tremendous duo at receiver if Braylon Edwards remains with the club.

The only thing the Donks have that I like is their OL and if we come up with a RT, I like the OL we have. Maybe a C also, but we'll see how much Niswanger improves in his 2nd year at the position.

Man, the Browns would be sick if they got Marshall. Which could be bad because we have to play them. Well, their offense would be sick, they still don't have a defense.

Nvm, actually they were middle of the pack last year in defense, which is surprising. Their offense was much worse than I thought.

Their rush defense is pretty good. They have one of the best NT playing. I'm not sure but I don't belive their OL is too good. Edwards drops more passes than Bowe.

Not since Brian Mitchell has a return man had any sort of longevity. They break down in a season or three. Cribbs will go the way of Devin Hester, Dante Hall, and the rest in short order.

The Broncos would lose this trade to a tremendous degree. Which is good.

With Marshall's current domestic concerns and his hip surgery factoring, maybe not. You just said in an earlier thread that you did not think Marshall would flourish without a QB the caliber of Cutler, so what's the difference in him being the recipient of Orton's passing attack or the QB dilemma in Cleveland? It is on record that Quinn is the short pass, controlled offense type of QB and that is what Mangini prefers. Anderson tanked last year and has to earn that spot again if possible.

Don't think for one second that Cribbs would not be utilized as a WR 8-10 plays per game OR that he may not have as much longevity as KR/PR as Mitchell.

I don't Marshall will do as well without a real QB (especially given his attitude and injury concerns), but he'll still be far more valuable to the Browns as a 2WR catching 50 to 60 balls a year and stretching the field than Cribbs would be as a KR/PR from the Broncos.

And Anderson/Quinn may not be good QBs, but they're a whole lot better than Kyle Orton. Mark my words, Kyle Orton will get his WRs killed this season underthrowing them over the middle of the field. His massive inadequacies were masked by a good running game and ferocious defense.

It's fun to watch guys like Cribbs and Hester while they last, but they never do. One injury is all it takes to slow them down into oblivion. And not since (again) Brian Mitchell has a KR/PR effectively played an additional position. It just increases the risk of injury, and all it takes is that first injury to reduce their value forever. And special teams players are too big and fast today (wedge or no) that an injury is inevitable.
