Let me reiterate this...
HE HAS NEVER WON A PLAYOFF GAME.
that is not a slight on him, but on the management that refused to do what was necessary to put a winning team on the field.
I've met Tony a couple of times, not as a fan, but as a person. He was always so gracious and upstanding. He gave KC the lion's share of a hall of fame career. they gave him Damon Huard. How does he NOT ask to leave?
Let's also not forget that he wasn't sitting out, not demanding a trade. We traded him, and we were compensated.
I think he is the best tight end of all time. The absolute best, and there is no arguing with it whatsoever.
I think he deserves a fair chance at a ring. Maybe if he had 5 more years in him, we could have given him that chance. He doesn't want to play for 5 more years. He doesn't want his career to dwindle with age and injury. He wants to retire the best. He deserves to have the next two years be playoff years, and then get out of the game with his knees intact.
All that said, eff the Falcons. Eff every other team in the NFL. You all can choke, for all I care.
Go Chiefs.
(now I have to go post roughly the same sentiment on the Vikings board.)
