I would like to see him take over as DC, but not as HC. As a fan who watched too many playoff games lost because he went into prevent defense AND prevent offense with a 3 point lead in the second quarter, I would revolt. Do we want a coach who consistently gets 10-12 games a regular season? Then he might be the guy. Do we want a coach who has ZERO % chance of winning a playoff game? Then he might be the guy.

I believe he could get over that hump if he was given a chance to coach again. And just think how awesome it would be to be good year in and year out again.

He got over that hump, guys.. He is a stud coach in the UFL. He even said, it was the most satisfying victory he could imagine.

Just got to say, becareful what you all ask for. His son Brian could be a HC soon.

Marty Schottenheimer says he doesn't expect to return to the NFL

Schottenheimer, who last coached for the Chargers in 2006, said he entertained the possibility of becoming the Chiefs' general manager a few years ago, but doesn't think he'll return to the NFL now.
That is not exactly the most up-to-the-minute story.

It is from two years ago.

Not that I think any of it matters. I expect Todd Haley to be The Chiefs' HC in 2012, and beyond.

He got over the hump in a semi-pro league-hardly the NFL. Also, he did the same choke-in-the-playoffs routine in San Diego, which is why he was fired.

He can stay in the UFL. Chiefs don't need him.

I would love to see Vermeil crying at press conferences again. Miss that man and the team he built here.
