Default KC Star : Cassel has Moss to thank for his good fortune

Matt Cassel’s new contract makes me appreciate Randy Moss, arguably the greatest football player of our lifetime. Check that. Moss might be the most influential football player of any lifetime. You could argue he’s better than Jim Brown, John Elway, Reggie White, Lawrence Taylor, Jerry Rice and Joe Montana.

I hardly think Randy Moss is the greatest football player of our lifetime.

He's good, but that's a big effing stretch.

    Moss does not approve.

Yeah, Moss isn't exactly Jerry Rice, Barry Sanders, Reggie White, Lawrence Taylor, Bruce Smith, or Joe Montana. He's not even Ray Lewis, Warren Sapp, Brady, Manning, or LT. He's a great WR, but he disappears in playoff games and is a cancer when teams are losing.

I'd put Moss on the level of Deion Sanders or Michael Irvin. A HOFer, a great player, a phenomenal athlete - but with a pretty large flaw that keeps him from being considered the best.

I get so sick of hearing how Cassel was just good because of Moss, Welker, Belichek, and all the NE surrounding players. Sure they made him much better, but bottom line is:

    The boy can play ball!
