    Jul 23, 2008, 2:20:01 PM

Kansas City Chiefs President Carl Peterson announced on Wednesday that the club has agreed to terms of a four-year contract with CB Brandon Flowers. As per Chiefs policy, no other terms of the agreement were made available.
The Chiefs have now agreed to terms with nine of their 12 draft picks from the 2008 draft class. Flowers joins third-round selections RB Jamaal Charles (73rd overall), TE Brad Cottam (76th overall) and S DaJuan Morgan (82nd overall), fourth-round pick WR Will Franklin (105th overall), fifth-round selection CB Brandon Carr (140th overall), sixth-round picks T Barry Richardson (170th overall) and WR Kevin Robinson (182nd overall) and seventh-round pick DE Brian Johnston (210th overall).
Flowers (5-9, 187) joined the Chiefs as the club’s second-round pick (35th overall) in the 2008 NFL Draft. He played in 41 games with 28 starts, opening his final 27 contests at Virginia Tech. He recorded 158 tackles (99 solo) with 17.0 stops for loss (-71.0 yards), 3.5 sacks (-28.0 yards) and 10 interceptions for 172 yards with two TDs. He also produced 32 passes defensed, one fumble recovery and one forced fumble.
Flowers started all 14 contests for the Hokies in 2007, tallying a career-high 86 tackles (56 solo), including 8.0 stops for loss (-24.0 yards). He added five interceptions for 93 yards with a TD, nine passes defensed and a fumble recovery. He was a first-team All-America selection by the American Coaches Association and earned first-team All-Atlantic Coast Conference honors.
The Delray Beach, Florida native led Atlantic High School to the Class 5A regional title as a senior, earning first-team all-area and all-conference honors. He also played one season at Hargrave Military Academy in Chatham, Virginia

Carl does not coach or play for the team. He can only do what he can do. I'm not saying he is great, but cmon, you can't say its all his fault. Its like blaming a moderator when someone posts something stupid. Or giving him the credit because the forum becomes a great one. In NE the credit goes to the coach. In Indianapolis the credit goes to the Quarterback. And in Kansas City the blame goes to the GM. He put a lot of teams in the playoffs if you want to look at it that way. He wasn't in there to decide who won or lost those games.

In NE, the coach is the GM.
In indy, the credit for the team's makeup, including that QB, and for the right hire at HC is given to the GM, Bill Polian.

If you don't accomplish the goal in the time that Carl has had to get accomplished, the blame lies squarely at Carl's feet.

He has hired Head Coaches, drafted and signed the players that haven't gotten the job done.

And theres anybody in the league with the same responsability who hasn't? If I recall, the Giants won the Super Bowl last year. Not Indy, not NE, not Dallas, Pittsburgh or anybody else either. His record isn't the best, but it isn't the worst either. Quite frankly I have enjoyed watching Chiefs football for my whole life, last season was probably the only one I didn't enjoy keeping up with, but i'm still excited with this season. Thats not a bad record.

In the NFL, there isn't any other GM who has survived the job without at least a SB appearence as long as Carl.

I have no expectation of going ot a SB every year, or every other year, or even every 5 years, but I fully expect that if you hold the responsibilty that Carl does for 10 years, you better get to the SB, or get your *** out.

The fact is, Lamar Hunt sucked *** as an owner for 36 years, because he allowed Jack Steadman to remain on the job for to long, and allowed carl to do the same witout any accountability for the team's failures on the field.

I would have to agree. I feel that for the length of time Carl has been GM that it's been more miss than hit. He bought into Vermeil's philosophy of signing veterans and trying to win now, with no realistic thought to the future and their drafts during that time reflect that. Now we're in the situation of cleaning house and practically starting over and I feel that we've done well in the draft over the last couple of years, but I think the credit goes more to Herm than to Carl. But I think that we're going to have to put up with Carl for a couple of years more before judgement can be rendered on Carl's "latest" plan.
Keeping my britches between the ditches! :character00182:
