Default I'm officially hitting the panic button...anyone else?

This does not look good for the Chiefies...so many issues, where to begin? I know it is the preseason, but there were many of the same problems surfacing last year.

They cant get off the field on 3rd down. They continually allow first downs time after time when they need stops on 3rd down. Last nights 3rd and 19 was particularly pathetic.

Offensive play calling is bad so far in the preseason, I know it is just preseason but it looks pathetic. It wasnt really all that great last year. There is no rythem. Their 2 best drives were in the Ravens game in a hurry-up.

Defense gets gashed on the runs plenty last year and short passing defense they just get torched. 5 yards here and there allows other teams to just march up and down the field.

No way am I even close to being sold on Cassel. He has shown very little to make me think he can lead this team to a Championship. He cant get out of trouble, his arm is average and his accuracy is barely above average. I cant really think of any time he has led the team down the field when they really needed a score. 31st ranked passing offense last year - that blows some major goat.

The O-line never looks dominant, more like barely adequate...then they let Waters go? WTF? Charles' quickness and the pathetic schedule is the only reason we finished 1st in rushing. Texan and Jags were the two worst, not to mention the Donkeys, Colts and Cardinals being dreadful on D. I forsee many sacks for the QB this year.

Lets face it...they did not beat a single good team last year. The first game the weather helped them a great deal, as did the Chargers poor special teams and a few great returns from the Chiefs. Rivers would win that game at the end 9 times out of 10, IMHO. What was their best win? At Seattle?? Not cool. Not cool at all. The Colts were the ONLY legitimate playoff team they even played.

I want to be optimistic, but I will take any bets that the chiefs even win 8 games. I think the final tally will be 6-10. I hate to say it, but unless they really take a HUGE step forward, Haley and Cassel should be considered for removal prior to 2012.

It's called the win column, perhaps you've heard of it?

It's a whole lot easier to beat The 7-9 Seahawks and the 7-9 Rams than it is to beat the 14-2 Patriots and 11-5 Jets.

Regardless of what The Chargers did, facing the weakest possible schedule is an advantage.

I am not ready to throw in any towel, or anything. But I have yet to see anything encouraging from this preseason.

But then... JC only has six carries in the three preseason games. So our real offense has not been used yet.

Bingo! and Bowe only has 4 catches. This is not the offense we will see, at all, in the regular season.

There's a perfectly good reason why the Chiefs have not looked good (and why Haley is just 1-10) in preseason games. It's by design.

In the regular season, teams emphasize their strengths and make adjustments to minimize their weaknesses. Haley is using the preseason to expose the teams weaknesses. You see very basic vanilla offenses and defenses in preseason. This is partly so that you don't give anything away to your regular season opponents. But it is mostly done to evaluate your players.

In the regular season, you will use double teams, stunts and blitzes, throw away from certain CBs, attack weaknesses in your opponents defense, and so forth. But doing these things in the preseason, hides players weaknesses and makes it difficult for coaches to evaluate players accurately. They want to see the O line block one on one. They want to see the defense get penetration with a 4 man rush. They don't want to double team star receivers so they can see where the weak links are.

There are 90 players on this teams and 44 of them will be gone when the regular season starts. Because of the lockout, coaches have to evaluate more players in much less time than they normally do.

It's no secret that the Chiefs strength offensively is the run game. So what do they do in preseason? Throw the ball 39 times and run it 20 in game 3. They don't have to run the ball because they know what they have with that. They need to practice the passing game to get better and find receivers to complement Bowe. And preseason games are still just practices.

We haven't seen the real Chiefs, yet. Panic now? Half of these guys wont even make the team!

Keep in mind they also had one of the craziest injury-depleted rosters during the regular season. Healthy, they win the division last year and secure the 1 or 2 seed in the NFC.

I dont get the 'By design' quote, what would be by design? Losing? Looking pathetic?

Please explain the 'expose the teams weakness thing? That makes no sense...so your saying Haley purposely shows where the Chiefs are weakest?! That would be more than dumb, then your allowing other teams to see than and exploit it in the regular season? Dont agree there.

Blitzes...they have been blitzing a ****-ton in the preseason, damn near as much as I would expect in the regular season, they are not getting to the QB fast enough, and all of them have torched the Chiefs on the hot read.

90 - 44.....so they are going with a 46 man roster this year??

It's all about evaluating players. They need to play guys that are weak in order to expose them so they know who to cut. I guess I wasn't clear there.

They have been blitzing quite a bit, but their defensive sets have been pretty basic otherwise. In a 3-4 defense you usually have at least one of the linebackers rushing. They haven't been "game planning" to take specific players out of the game like they would in the regular season.

The regular season roster limit is 53, this year but only 46 players can be active on game day. I had that wrong. Last year it was 45, but they added one and changed the rule so you can bring your starting QB back into the game after you have played your 3rd string QB. That's still a lot of players that will be gone and I'm sure you will agree that we haven't seen much of the regular season Chiefs starting offense.

I have. Which brings back my point of ANY GIVEN SUNDAY! You never know what's going to happen. Whether it be a off day for your star player, a key injury, or one team simply playing the best game of their season against one of the elite teams.

Who would've ever guessed in their right mind that the Chargers would have the #1 rated offense and defense and not even make the playoffs?

You never know what's going to happen is all I'm saying.

The only red flags to be worried about is....OL getting man handled....D poor tackling.....ST looking looking horrible.

Best tradition:... I have to go with the Oakland Raiders. How can that be disputed? ...Everyone equates the colors Silver and Black with the Raiders. There’s Al Davis, who has been with the franchise for 48 years. There are all the great Hall of Fame players,...There’s the three Super Bowl titles. You think of the AFC West, and you think of the Raiders.

Why panic yet? Wait till after week 1. Statisically we haven't looked to good in preseason. Doesn't mean things will change or will not change...
