My thoughts with reply exactly. As well, realistically many personal lives affect professional lives, and one’s ability to perform on the job.
That said…I agree, in that privacy should be respected on the internet as well as any other place. Unfortunately privacy is invaded not only by employer’s, but by governement, and many other sources…including individuals invading one’s privacy.
Facebook does allow us to control privacy through account settings…so if one posts on public pages, rather than through their own profile page, or network of friends…they’re responsible for the reprecussions, if any. That is unless one of the friends violates confidentiality of course.
