Wow…watching that video brought forth some emotions for me. I’m not full Indian, but am partially Cree and Shawnee…my two maternal great grandmas were full blooded. Some of those Indian ancestors were mine. I’ve done much research over the years on my native heritage, so am aware of all the horror & cruelty the video revealed. Still, when I think about what happened it brings much sadness, even some anger.

Maybe this explains why I’m more proud of my Indian blood than my european blood line. I’ve always felt more of a natural bond to my Indian ancestors also, even as a kid. Heck, since I was a little girl my personality has been naturally, or instinctively drawn to indian culture, style, etc.. For example…my favorite stone is turquoise, always has been…”sky stone”… Indians call it. :)

I wish the buffalo still roamed. Where I live now is one of the few remaining native prairies in Kansas. I have 80 acres of beautiful prairie meadows…filled with native wildflowers & grasses. Sometimes I sit outside and imagine the buffalo that once roamed my prairie meadow. :)

PS: Indians believe in God too, even back then. They call him by a different name, as many cultures do…he is called the Great Spirit by most plains tribes, but he is one in the same with God. The spiritual teachings of the Indians are the same that is taught in the Bible. The Indians didn’t have a ‘Bible’…but they had God, the Great Spirit. I can assure you that God, the Great Spirit… had nothing to do with what the settlers did to the Indians, regardless of what the settlers ‘thought’.
