Kid Rock can have quite the sense of humor. Joe C (Joseph Calleja)…was a member of Kid Rock’s band, Twisted Brown Trucker, TBT for short. They met before Kid was famous, but when he was performing in small time bars & night clubs around Detroit.
Joe C was a midget, and huge fan of Kid’s music…he attended every local show he could. He always stood on a table, since he was so short, so he could see Kid perform on stage. Kid noticed him often, but didn’t realize he was a midget, rather thought he was a young boy, haha.
Kid’s concerts back then especially, were no place for a child. It bothered Kid this boy was always at his local shows. Here’s what Kid says about how he met Joe C, hahaha:
“Joe C. … that little mother used to come to all my shows, stand on tables in the front row, and sing all the lyrics. It bummed me out because I thought he was some little kid, and his parents were taking him to all my shows and buying him my records. I’m not the king of morals or anything, but I thought that was a little twisted. Finally, after one of the shows, Joe C comes up to me and asks if I wanted to smoke a joint. That was the final straw. I asked him to take me to his dad, and he got pissed. He started yelling, ‘I’m grown! I’m grown!’ When I realized he was just a midget, I said, ‘Bring your short a** backstage.’ He hung with us in the back, and I offered him a job rapping with the crew. I bought him a little karaoke machine and taught him how to rap, he joined our band and show.”

Joe C. passed away on Nov. 17th, 2000. The popular rapper and signature character with Kid Rock’s Twisted Brown Trucker band, Joe C. had suffered since childhood with Celiac disease, an intestinal disorder. He was 26 years old.02/10/2010 at 6:28 am #923299Connie Jo;179092 wrote:Guess I should also add to the bit of history:
